Cows of the Sierras

This was taken on the Owens River with the Sierras in the background. On the far left is the Mammoth Crest, to its right is Mammoth Mountain and it is actually a dormant volcano and a popular ski resort. To the right of that you can see the jagged Minarets and to the far right is Mount Ritter. The hills in the background are the resurgent dome. They are constantly being pushed upwards due to a pocket of magma filling up a few miles below the surface.

The Owens River is the main source of water for Los Angeles via the L.A. Aquaduct. Los Angeles stole most of the water that used to feed this valley.
